Position: Experienced Carpenter - full time

Job Description

We are looking for an environmentally-minded carpenter with framing, cabinetry and finish carpentry experience who loves thinking outside the box and wowing clients. Our ideal candidate will have their own transportation, be willing to travel within a 40-mile radius, and have knowledge of green/sustainable construction. Most work is on-site, though we have a facility for pre-fab carpentry when the job calls for it.

Responsibilities:
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches
• Read and take actions
• Ability to self-direct
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
• Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. drywall, PVC trim boards) according to measurements
• Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings using raw materials or pre-constructed items
• Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
• Build scaffolding and related structures
• Estimate materials and time needed to complete a task

Requirements:
• Proven experience as carpenter
• Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials
• Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
• Eye for detail
• Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings
• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
• Good knowledge of English
• Solid understanding of basic math
• Good physical condition and endurance, ability to lift 50 to 100lbs
• High school diploma or equivalent; Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is a plus
